Greater Johannesburg

The first 1-2-3 TUG Training Conferences had to be cancelled, earlier this year, in both Pretoria and Johannesburg due to a lack of interest. A second attempt was made and only one 1-2-3 Training Conference was then scheduled for Gauteng. The date was 1-7 March at the Baptist Union Campsite and the target was to have 100 participants.

A week before the training was supposed to start we had received the names of only 12 interested people and none had paid their registration fee yet to confirm the booking. We prayed continiously and considered various options how to deal with the situation as we had the venue booked and paid for! We realised all the time that only God can make the seemingly impossible happen... and He did ! Praise to Him!

The attendance figures speak for themselves!

• 68 participants came for the whole week.
• 88 attended the Vision Casting on Tuesday.
• 32 Cosmo City people joined on Wednesday (unannounced) that pushed us to 110 people....had to send them home with the understanding that we need to address their training need in Cosmo City.
• 38 Churches/Organisations/Ministries were represented!!

And then there was the Soccer Sunday idea that we thought was brilliant:

The concept work that everyone in the church (including leaders, pastors, dominees etc) had to wear something World Cup (t-shirt, caps etc).

This brings sport and church (theology) together. Great introduction to sport ministry, especially if leading from the front.
