Pietermaritzburg on the Map!!

If you are reading this and live in PMB and surrounds, and want to get involved, please contact us!

Msunduzi now has a TUG office which has embraced the vision of seeing God glorified, via people reached during this season of the FIFA Soccer World Cup, partnerships created through unity, and a firm network and activity base for future development after the World Cup. We have chosen to be known as TUG Msunduzi to identify with our new municipality.

We are encouraging all local churches to be involved, and drawing upon their resources as we undertake to co-ordinate events and training in our beautiful city. What an opportunity to bring Jesus to the centre of all the excitement and fun that the season ahead holds!

We are currently in the process of staffing an office with phone-line and internet facilities, as those currently serving on the committee are full-time employed. This will be a great help in streamlining communications and planning for what lies ahead. If you have available office space in a central location, please let us know as our current location is not quite suitable for many as it is a little out of the way.

Jaco van Heerden is the Convener of the local initiative, and he is establishing a number of portfolios for suitably experienced persons as they come on board. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to ‘sow’ into the spiritual life of our city, as we have this unique time, as a nation, hosting this splendid event.

We plan in the very near future to arrange a central meeting which would involve all the churches in PMB and surrounds with the aim to introduce the TUG project, the PMB Team and via workshop style discussions determine the needs and special interests we as a community can embark on in this time of opportunities.

Co-ordinating and administering the various activities is quite challenging , so we call on the churches of PMB and surrounds to come together in strength and partake in the various activities and outreaches, for the glory of our King.

It is indeed a honour to be in the service of our Lord and Almighty God, and to experience the heavenly blessings He bestowed on us via His Son Jesus Christ in us.

So, if you feel God is calling you, do not hesitate to enrol with us, for the days (and workers) are few, and the harvest is great.

Richards Bay has taken up the challenge

People reading this, who stay in the City of UMhlathuze, and want to get involved, please make contact with us!

Richards Bay is moving on and we are in the process of meeting with corporates and finalising our programme and business plan for submission to the District Municipality and the local Chamber of Business. We have also formed sub-commitees who are rolling out the plans for the programme and hope to finalise it and the business plan by next week for submission to relevant parties.

We have an official TUG 2010 Hub for the area (i.e.: City of UMhatuze) and the church is Richards Bay Community Church, Veldenvlei, Richards Bay. Tel: (035) 786 0312. Office hours are: 08h00 - 14h00 weekdays. Pastor Larry Chasenski with his staff  will assist us with venues for meetings which will be held every 2 weeks and also with administration. Since most of our committee members are employed, manning telephones full time ourselves are difficult. Rochelle, the Church administrator, will assist TUG by passing messages on to us.

A structure has been put in place and our Chairperson is a fired up Shane McNeil who is very very familiar with Ubabalo, Sports Ministry, SASCOL, etc. He is truly God-sent. We are currently consulting with a professional Co-ordinator to assist us voluntarily by co-ordinating the entire programme for the City of UMhlathuze, our area of jurisdiction, which is made up of: Richards Bay, Empangeni, Vulindlela, Esikhaweni, Nseleni, Mzingazi and Mandlazini. Should people from other areas wish to become involved, we will increase our area of jurisdiction to be Northern KZN. Already we have representatives from approx 20 churches and we are trusting God for the goal of mobilizing 100 churches for this project.

Meetings are being set up with Fraternals in the hopes of mobilizing churches to come on board. We are getting some corporates already attending our meetings and becoming involved in this initiative.
